Finally paid off my debt at the library and found one that is really interersting so far.

Promice of the Wolves - Dorothy Hearst

It's from the point of view of a young she wolf who is destined to either rul or destroy her pack. Takes place 14,000 years ago. Pretty interesting so far. A series I'm deffinately looking into.

I just finished reading DragonSpell by Donita K. Paul.

Until about two weeks ago, I'd never heard of the book or the author. I just happened to wander through Barnes&Noble one afternoon looking for something non-manga to read (that would hopefully last me for more than an hour) and I found DragonSpell and its couple of sequels on a display near the Fantasy/Sci-Fi section. I discovered one of my favorite authors, Jim Butcher, the same way so I thought I'd give this one a chance and maybe find a new love.

Well... I didn't find a new love. I would probably rate DragonSpell as about a 2/5 in the land of fantasy books. It was an okay read but I seriously doubt I will be buying any of the sequels in the near future. One thing I didn't realize when I picked it out at B&N is that DragonSpell is a Christian fantasy. I'm not into religion, but I decided not to let that prejudice me against the book. Some authors can mix religion and swords and sorcery in a very believable way. Unfortunately, this one didn't quite blend. Most of the characters (with the exception of a few) were very flat and forgettable, and the plot (that of a quest, and a band of heroes who are out to defeat the evil wizard) is one that has been done to death... and quite a lot better than what Ms. Paul managed to flesh out. The storyline skipped around so often that I had a hard time picking the book back up when I put it down (when in reality, a good author wants the reader to NEED to pick it back up and read the rest), and I noticed quite a few plot holes that I'm hoping were filled in during the sequels but not in the least tempted to find out.

I've read a few reviews on DragonSpell. It's taken a lot of hits just for being a Christian swords and sorcery tale. That didn't bother me nearly so much as the lack of actual story substance... although I will be honest that I think the added element of Christianity Ms. Paul tried to introduce also fell flat, and took away from the story even more. If I ever want religion, I'll read the Bible. It's a lot more interesting than trying to stuff God into bad fiction.

Overall... thumbs down. =/

The Host finish it about two weeks ago. Not a bad book, but a little confusing. Not the best storyline, and the ending was horrid; but over-all it was alright.

Breaking Dawn I'm about 200 or so pages into it...and all i can say is wow..I'm still not sure if that is a good wow or a bad one.

I mean..wtf? Switching perspectives is interesting, but the few beginning chapters were too incredibly cliche and annoying, and now this?! Damn, hopefully this mid-way and ending wont suck.

Well, I started reading Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer at around 11 o'clock last night and I just finished (Around 10 this morning). All in all, it was a decent ending to the series, I guess. Very... climatic, to say the least. All in all, it was a pretty decent saga.

Just finished Breaking Dawn an hour ago, after a long nap.
Not impressed, is all I'm going to say.
Though maybe I am being cynical over the whole half human, half vampire kid.
It wasn't THAT bad, but it could have been better.

Personally, I would have preferred they handled the kid thing different. I also wish Stephanie has worked out the ending. I would say more, but I'd prefer not to spoil it for anyone who is currently reading or is looking forward to reading it sometime soon.

its been awhile since i first read it and my minds a bit rusty on the details, thought I'd re-visit it to get ready for the upcoming movie coming out. get the characters in my head and whatnot.

I enjoy this series so, its one of the things besides civil war I'll actually buy instead of simply reading it while I'm at barnes&nobles and putting it back to finish another day. theirs suppose to be a film adaptation dropping soon, can't wait.

I'm currently reading Sherlock Holmes, and dude, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was one smart writer!! Some of these cases just blow my mind!

I just finished Melting Stones by Tamora Pierce

It's been so long since she published something... I thought the day of "new book" would never come. ;___;

She actually published Melting Stones in audio like, last fall, which was totally disgusting because not only could I not find a copy... but those books on CD are freaking expensive. What's up with that?? It's like, 3-4 times as expensive as a standard hardcover book. o_O;

It was a pretty good read (I've been deprived waiting for her new works) but it was a little bit off because 1) it wasn't about what I thought it would be, and 2) it wasn't based on one of her four "main characters" from the Circle books she's already published. The main character was one of her previous characters, but I didn't like her in this as much as when she was just a supporting character in the books she first appeared in. She was kind of a bitch. =/

Anyway, the next Pierce book is supposed to come out on my next birthday... and it's the one I REALLY want anyway. So I'll hold my breath til then. =)

Finished Eragon for the second time. Good book. The movie effed it up.
