by posting in this forum you subject yourself to the rules here posted, and whatever additional rules in each thread. DO NOT say you didn't know, everything's posted where everyone can read it.

How To RP

there are a few things that need to be said about RPG's, considering this is the place to have them. here's a few, if necessary add to the list or petition me to change it;

* try to have at most 2 RPG's going on at a time
* only have 1 character unless otherwise specified by the thread starter at the beginning
* the thread starter is NOT the boss, main char, etc. it's not a given that if you start an RPG that everyone will do what you say or think should be done, that's solitaire.
* your character should not drastically change unless something drastic happens to them, or unless you yourself experience a radiclal change irl and can no longer act as that character
* try to be appropriate, or at least semi-appropriate. i know how certain events can change a story if they're left out, but if you must describe something gruesome, sick, gory, etc, try to do it in a way that would be more beneficial to the storyline than just for shock value
* by starting an RPG you agree to finish it. leaving in the middle is frowned on more than someone starting in the middle, unless the story dictates such an event. if you're involved, even in a minor way, stay involved until either it's over or your character is no longer involved.
* there are no all-powerful characters, and you are neither immortal or impervious to everything (elemental/magic/armour/other forms of resistance are tolerable, within limits of course), if you have one you'll be asked to have another, as that one will not stay
* comedic acts are not necessarily frowned on, but if everyone's being serious and you're throwing teapots at them, it detracts from the others' experience. you will have the whole tea service thrown at you, thus exiting you from the RPG
* if something happens you don't like, roll with it and try to change it through manipulation of the story, don't pout about it (unless it's something your character would do)
* do not have outside discussions within the RPG thread
* don't exclude someone cause you think they're not good at RPGing or that they'll take the story a different way you want it; the game is determined by the players
* if i ban you from all RPG's (which i will if necessary) you will know same as everyone else in that RPG will know, you may discuss it with me but as i'm not involved in RPG's i'll let the majority of the people involved in that thread help me decide
* you may only control your character, and may not set in place events that will have a major effect on the rest of the characters suddenly and without warning, nor can you create another character, no matter how small their role, to augment yourself.

Battles
a few things about battles:

* by being the winner, you win. there is nothing attached to it. perhaps at some point in the future if we have a big enough battle community there may be something more to it, but for now there is nothing like that here.
* you may not challenge me for a position. Moderator/Admin/Super/etc is not a prize to be won in the dojo. if a need arises for one of these and there is a sufficiently interested/loyal person, then they will probably be put into the position. stop challenging me for my 'title' because it's not on the table
* you should never assume that the mod/admin/etc reads every single thing. though i try to read the vast majority of the posts on this site, every once in a while i just don't feel like it. people with positons are volunteers at almost every forum i've ever seen, do not expect more than they expect of you. if you have a problem, the PM system works just fine
* if you arrange a battle for some prize that the combatants agree to, that's great. do it off-site or privately. many times it's art trades, and unless they're within a certain distance from each other and/or know each other in person, it would have to be something an online trade can make possible. nevertheless DO NOT MAKE PUBLIC BETS/AGREEMENTS/ETC based on the outcome of a battle

Extra rules

If you have a problem with a rper please contact the moderator of the dojo or the admins instead of chewing their head off in the rp. This will ruin everyone else's fun. If you think they should be banned from the dojo then message the dojo mod or admins.

This has been stated already but will be said again. No one line posts!
